The Story
Harper was born with Pitt-Hopkins Syndrome, a rare disorder that brings profound daily challenges. She is nonverbal and, though she bravely walks with braces, simple tasks like getting in and out of the tub became exhausting hurdles. Her parents often struggled, lifting her with love even as it made bath time physically draining and unsafe. Understanding Harper would always need help, SOARD set out to ease her burden—creating a safe, comfortable, and empowering space. We are deeply grateful to give Harper a bathroom crafted for dignity, independence, and hope.
This transformation was only possible with our partners’ support. The Beazer Homes Foundation provided Harper’s project funding and also volunteered on-site. Their team brought energy and heart to Demo Day, exemplifying meaningful corporate partnership.
We are grateful to the Rexel Foundation, whose support went beyond funding. Their volunteers brought positivity and a genuine connection to Harper's family. Their engagement shows the real impact of combining resources and personal involvement.
Construction Resources played a key role, generously providing materials and expertise for this project. Their Design Studio Manager, Ariana Pecoraro, worked closely with Harper’s family to design a water-inspired bathroom reflecting Harper’s love of water. Through Ariana, we also connected with new partners: Kohler, which donated all plumbing fixtures, toilet, and mirror; Bell Cabinetry, which custom-built and donated the beautiful vanity and shelving; and Cancos Tile & Stone, which provided the stunning tile that brings the space together.
We thank Mike Kamber and Therapy Gyms for creativity and generosity. For Harper’s bathroom, Mike built a custom collapsible grab bar—a unique solution for Harper’s support and her parents’ safety. It’s a thoughtful feature that shows the care that went into this project.
Many other partners made this possible. Real Floors Commercial provided flooring installation, Sherwin-Williams supplied paint, Cambria contributed countertops, and Top Knobs provided hardware. Pepper Home added a special touch with a custom shower curtain, while ServiceWise, TKO Plumbing, PLS Carpentry, Bin There Dump That, and Georgia Interior Painting ensured every detail was complete.
And when it came time to celebrate, Nothing Bundt Cakes and Melania Cotton Candy Alpharetta helped make reveal day extra special with delicious treats and fun, memorable touches for the whole family.
This project was a true team effort, fueled by care and hope. Harper’s new bathroom isn’t just a renovation—it’s a sanctuary that brings her daily comfort and gives her family peace of mind. Our gratitude to every partner runs deep for making this transformation a reality.
This project is a beautiful example of what’s possible when a community comes together to make a difference. The impact we can have on families like Harper’s is truly life-changing.
