The Story
Before turning sixteen, Cayden faced more challenges than most do in a lifetime. Born with congenital scoliosis, he endured multiple surgeries from early childhood and lost one of his legs at a young age. Yet, Cayden remained resilient, hopeful, and full of heart, always showing up with a smile.
Then the unimaginable happened. During a spinal fusion surgery meant to give him a better future, Cayden suffered a sudden stroke that left him paralyzed from the waist down. For 11 agonizing weeks in the hospital, enduring pain, infections, and relentless surgeries, he clung fiercely to hope, never allowing defeat. Simply put, Cayden is a force.
Cayden deserved a space as vibrant as his spirit, so we set out to build it. Thanks to Jackson Healthcare, a loyal partner and champion of our mission, Sunshine on a Ranney Day created a fully accessible bathroom for Cayden. This new space has transformed his daily life. For the first time, he can move around independently and safely, managing his routines with greater ease and confidence. This autonomy has relieved his family and allowed Cayden to focus on what he loves most. The bathroom features Pittsburgh Steelers decor, Cayden’s favorite NFL team.
"He is an amazing, selfless child"
The vision came to life thanks to B Noelle Design, whose heartfelt gift of time and talent made sure every detail was perfect, from the color scheme to the very last touch. The result isn’t just functional, it feels like Cayden’s spirit lives in every corner.
